Each fall at MIT, nearly 300 young female mathematicians compete in our challenging test of mathematical creativity and insight. Our goal is to promote gender equity in the STEM professions and to encourage young women with exceptional potential to become mathematical and scientific leaders. The Experience On Sunday, October 11, 2020, we were planning to hold the 12th annual Math Prize for Girls competition, marking our 10th year at MIT. Contestants would have come to Cambridge for the weekend, took part in our pre-contest games night, and celebrated their accomplishments at an awards ceremony featuring a keynote address from an acclaimed figure in math, science, or technology. Because of the coronavirus, we will instead hold some virtual math events for our invited students. Schedule Learn about the event’s schedule and activities.
